What has happened until this point?

To begin, according to India’s sherpa Amitabh Kant, the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration of the G20 is nearly finished and will be given to the grouping’s leaders to secure consensus.

Kant announced at a press conference prior to the G20 Leaders’ Summit on September 9-10 that he would divulge more about the announcement, also known as a collective communique, after it was ratified by the leaders. He did, however, state that the proclamation would incorporate the opinions of the global south and poor nations.

PM Modi and his Bangladesh colleague Sheikh Hasina met in New Delhi and signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs), notably one on collaboration in digital payment processes.

The African Union formally joined the summit on Saturday at the request of summit organizer and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Let’s take a look at the entire G20 Summit schedule.

How is the G20 presidency chosen?

At the Bali summit, Indonesian President Joko Widodo officially handed over the summit presidency to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But how is this President selected? To begin with, the G20 does not have a headquarters; it is an informal collection that, unlike the United Nations (UN), does not have a permanent administration or employees.

On December 1, 2016, Germany assumed the presidency of the summit and began working under the so-called G20 Troika, which stands for three things: the past, the present, and the future. The Troika, which includes Indonesia (the previous presidency), India (the current presidency), and Brazil (the incoming presidency), supports the Presidency.

G20 Summit 2023: Logo

Because the G20 Summit is being held in India, the logo is based on our national flag and features the brilliant hues of the ‘Tiranga,’ namely saffron, white, green, and blue. The wonderful blend of white, green, and blue lotus with the Earth contributes to the attractiveness of this logo. At a time when global warming is causing significant loss of life, property, and resources, the earth logo emphasizes the importance of taking an environmentally sensitive approach. In addition, ‘Bharat’ is written in Devanagari script beneath the G20 logo.

G20 Summit 2023: Theme

The overall concept of the G20 Summit 2023 is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” derived from an ancient Sanskrit book known as the Maha Upanishad. It recognizes the worth of humans, animals, plants, and microorganisms, as well as their interdependence on Earth and in the universe.
