The Glory Review:
The Glory portrays a woman named Dong-eun as she plans her revenge on her high school bullies, intending to make them all pay for their actions. It’s a suspenseful, well-written vengeance drama based on true events. When it comes to bullying, the drama has a strong knowledge of its characters as well as the prevalent societal difficulties in Korea.
Dong-eun, the main character, is on a quest for justice and has been planning her retaliation since she was sixteen. Park Yeon-jin, on the other hand, is a nasty, vicious human being who enjoys causing people pain. It’s a hobby for her, and she’s shameless about it. She is the boss of the bully group and arrives with four minions, including Lee Sa-ra, a heroin addict posing as an artist.
We additionally have Jeon Jae- Jun, a callous, cold, and selfish man. He has feelings for Park Yeon -jin, and the two share a secret, which she has kept concealed for so long. There’s also Choi Hye-jeong, who hails from an impoverished family yet manages to become Yeon-jin’s puppet without enduring the physical suffering Dong-eun did. She lusts after Yeon-jin, is deeply in love with Jae-jun, and wishes to marry a wealthy guy. She is just a member of the gang since her survival is dependent on it.
Finally, there’s Son Myeong-oh, who serves as Jae-jun’s lap dog. He, too, aspires to be wealthy and is willing to sell his pals for fast money. Nonetheless, he relishes inflicting harm on others.
Apart from the bully gang, we have Han Do-Young, Park Yeon-jin’s husband. Dong-eun and the way she plays Go attract him. He is a multi-layered character, and despite his questionable moral standards, he is an identity that viewers can unite for. To defend his daughter, he is prepared to get his hands filthy. He may not be named Father of the Year, but viewers may see why he makes such severe decisions. But, in the end, Dong-eun’s revenge plan is what matters.
Dong-eun is laying the groundwork for her revenge scheme in Part 2 of The Glory. As our protagonist chases after her goals one by one, the stakes rise.
The authoritative parents in this one will most likely irritate you as much as they did us. It’s amazing how adults choose to turn away and do nothing when it’s their responsibility to protect their children. This includes the teachers who remained silent and the cops who assisted in covering up the bullying. All of this, however, contributes to the bigger narrative, allowing us to rally even more behind Dong-eun.
It felt good to watch the takedown and Dong-eun’s ability to continue moving on from the trauma. Domestic violence is an issue that has received insufficient attention in the media, mostly because reporting these family members is considered taboo. However, Hyung-nam’s character perfectly reflects this struggle, and you’ll find yourself caring for her as well. The show exemplifies why some women have no choice but to remain in abusive situations. In some ways, Hyung-nam and Dong-eun are two shattered women struggling to make it through the day. I liked how they attempted to assist each other find pleasure in their scenes.
Conclusion:
The Glory is an excellent vengeance story, but the final episodes feel hurried and the ambiguous climax will leave you wanting more. Regardless, if you’re searching for a riveting revenge story to see, give The Glory a chance; you won’t be disappointed.
